  2. I cannot, from any perspective, understand how a man can rape a woman. Oh I know they do, don't get me wrong, but the actual ability to forcibly rape someone is something of a mystery to me.

    Honour killings aren't.

As I do not follow soccer, I am refraining from a Brazilian for the duration of the World Cup. Possibly longer.

  3. Just cannot fathom these honor killings. Is it just an excuse to go on a frenzy! There's no logical explanation. They are sick! Thoughtful take Rallentanda!

  4. Honour killings are no less abhorrent than rape.

Soccer is much better than the footie. No contact or sticking heads in each others bottoms...much more civilised!

  5. Women are subjected to rape because they can do something miraculous and men can't. Luckily most men love them for it but for others it is pure hate.

    1. Misogyny is alive and well. The emancipation of women appears to upset patriarchal cultures.

  6. Serious and thoughtful set of ideas.

Institutionalised *honour killings* and rape of women are an indication of a misogynistic culture and faith system. Patriarchal cultures are different and do not, in themselves, treat women as lesser beings with no rights who can be raped and killed. Think Islam for the former and Christianity for the latter.

As for "Pussy Sausage", (the meaning of his name) the less said about him the better.

  7. An excellent collection of protests! It is inconceivable that with rape we still have not overcome that unspoken undercurrent that somehow the victim "deserved" it--Gah! And the honor killings, almost 800 reported, and it's all okay because their society says it is? My brain just explodes...thank you for throwing in some of your lovely wit to keep me from banging my head on the breakfast table, and spilling my coffee...

  8. I love the way you put photos next to each protest. very creative. Rape is a crime, violence against women is a crime, a drag queen winning a contest...hmmmm...that's a first...all in all this was a fun visual poem. Good day!!!

  9. Wow! What a splendid series of protest haiku that says aloud and illustrates what many of us mumble under our breaths. I admit laughing at #5 and imagining hearing all this news every morning at breakfast. I do not understand the violent repression of women, but I cannot deny it. We will keep educating, keep rescuing, keep fighting back and on and on. Thank you.
