poetry jam: poets united
i have finally escaped
the stormy weather
which has been dogging
the city for months
spring flicked the switch today
and the wattles dazzle yellow
against blue in the big outback sky

jeans and flannel shirts
stand still like soldiers armed
with clothes props
on the line stretched between the olive trees
i have been watching
the black chinned honey eater
gorging herself all afternoon
on the giant agave bloom
stopping only to sing a few notes
to me
I really like the 3rd stanza!
ReplyDeletenice lines specially the last musical stanza of the honey eaters...lovely :)
ReplyDeleteSo nice to experience the change of seasons...and to see those jeans and flannel shirts hanging out on the line!

ReplyDeletemuch love...
I LOVE this scene - especially the black chinned honey eater!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am glad spring has arrived. Wonderful description here.
ReplyDeletethe change of life and the newness of beginning, nicely captured.
ReplyDeleteWhen that switch flicked, it was felt here, too. Fall is in the air, though, not spring! I love the clothes on the line like soldiers. I'm assuming clothes props are what we call clothespins. Ah, spring! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh. Beautiful. Love how the jeans take a back seat in this.
ReplyDeleteI looked up the black-chinned honeyeaters to find they exist and have a sweet song. For these images, the stormy weather must leave. I really like "spring flipped the switch," the "jeans and flannels standing like soldiers" and the gorging and performing honey eater. How could your narrator not be spellbound?
ReplyDeleteI agree completely with Susan and echo her words.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful walk and talk with nature. Spring full of color (she's such a show off)
ReplyDeleteNice. What a great description of beautiful scenery and a fine day. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteYou paint a wonderful picture. I enjoyed that it was after the storm.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful moment of yellow togetherness...i like that you had that... :)
ReplyDeleteThank you.,,yellow togetherness offsets my puce parting ( smirkles !:)
