infant Jesus meek and mild
look upon this little child
innocence profound
an army of flowers will fight
against the guns and suicide swats
with candle light reinforcements
to save the day

the firestorm
will be snuffed out
by the overpowering perfume of roses
and billions of soft petals and lights
the merciless
will be shamed
by the sweetness of beautiful children
the mirror of the Almighty
les mechants
will be struck down
reeling
from the heavenly light
of young men
coptic christian martyrs
butchered on a beach
the eyes of their severed heads
burning a searing gaze
into the black souls
of the masked murderers
for eternity

evil cannot last
Midweek Motif PU
by the sweetness of beautiful children

Beautiful lines....!
oh, my heart beats extra for the childs moment of assuaged angst and pain. if there is a devine, if there is that omniscient omnipotent overseer then please salvage the love and spirit of innocence so that our children will live to see the beauty in life and their future
ReplyDeleteYES, "evil CANNOT LAST." What powerful images and allusions you bring together! I'm happy that you used the father and child that went viral! I watched the child calm down and agree to stay home--he will grow up into a harder knowledge (I hope he is safe). But your irony is right on target. False hope, false hope, oh my.
ReplyDeleteYes. This is it. There is more light than darkness in this world. Bless you. That little child breaks my heart with his sweetness.
ReplyDeleteEvil cannot last, but can destroy--your write makes me pause today
ReplyDeleteThank you !
DeleteWhat an incredibly moving post Rall. Thank you for that.
ReplyDeleteIt is not often that I write something which moves an old egg !
DeleteA profound piece of poetry - yes..we can learn a lot from children - unblemished souls...pure..hopeful...innocent..as the good lord (whichever one you worship) intended
ReplyDeleteHarsh reality. You always clearly write truth Rail. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Myrna. I suspect you understand why I do:)
DeleteTheir innocence can lead us always! Thank you for such a great poem!
ReplyDeleteGlad it touched you !
DeleteBeautifully penned and very poignant, Rall. One of the greatest crimes against humanity is that of extremists taking little children and robbing them of their innocence, bringing them up to be fanatics who go and commit evil acts. Children left to their own device will commit beautiful acts like the little boy you describe.
