River

what makes them smile?
these three beauties abandoned
on the river bank

like a river
the ants march in formation
across the parched earth

a giant greedy lizard
drank all the river water
mining companies

river phoenix
yet another statistic
death by drugs

row row row your boat
on a sunday afternoon
wind in the willows

we will all cross the styx
remember to tip the ferryman
for an easy ride

Mid Week Motif... PU

  1. Yes it always pays to keep a few gold coins in our pocket to pay the ferryman...rivers can flow steady, peacefully or hit a frantic, gigantic curve...poor River..i don't think he had the chance to find quiet waters

  5. Each of these is a fine read. My favorite is the lizard, but I lingered on each to enjoy both the visual and word images

  6. I so enjoyed the references in these, Rall. Lord, I'd better start saving so I can afford the tip to the ferryman, LOL.

  8. Don't like that lizard. I do like all your words, each unique and clever. I like the way you match the pictures to your poems. Nice.
