couldn't resist an audition
for an opera house performance
please don't kill us
you tried to before
when you attempted to enter
sydney harbour eighty years ago
but fortunately failed
we are performing sea creature artists
so please protect us and we will
keep on dancing for you

I love this - love the idea of dancing whales. They are such intelligent creatures. They carry the wisdon of the ages in their collective consciousness. Such beautiful photos, Rall. And you know how much I agree with your message. I dont understand how people can kill or harm such sentient beings.
ReplyDeleteI wish I understood the first two stanzas about what happened 80 years ago. I am sure there is an event here, but I am unaware of it. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteWW2.....Japanese submarines attacked Sydney Harbour !
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful words for all, the whale as well as the good and not caring humans. Lovely Rall. I haven't seen a whale yet. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteWhere I live on the coast it is not unusual to see them in Sydney.
ReplyDeleteThe whales DO dance. I can attest to that. Is it for us? To get our attention? Like a language we haven't learned to read yet? Maybe you read it in this poem.
