Haiku Heights 1, Dverse
this hung above our bed
in a white ornate frame
we were just starting out
well i was at least
life was rich with possibilities
in that lovely old home
without a street number
framed by hanging baskets of
red geraniums
the best house in that beautiful street
now demolished for a highway
just like us
no fingerprints left
a pile of dusty ashes
is all that remains
next to last stanza...demolished for the highway, just like us...best one there...ouch...that would be where i would have ended it...
ReplyDeleteSo sad....
ReplyDeleteAfter my divorce I ran into some folk I had not seen for ages, they did not know I was divorced and said I was looking radiant..I was:)

ReplyDeleteI have a property there . The Chinese Conglomerate SANTOS wants to mine it but with a lot of local opposition from farmers has backed off and gone to ravage the Pilbara in WA.
Hello Rallentanda, this is a very poignant Haiku. Very impressive!!
