School

poetry jam

start of the school year
always exciting

new uniforms badges books
high pitched chatter
giggling school girls
all in rows

a time of innocence

in retrospect a haven
of peace and protection
from the world
it was nice

  4. You are right, Rallentanda. I think that, in a way, we felt protected from the outside world. It had advantages but also drawbacks I guess.

  5. I agree. Those were indeed the 'good old days.' We didn't realize it at the time.

  6. I love the photo. It would have made life easier to wear uniforms to school--no having to worry about what to wear. It was a protected time.

  8. Sigh... Now that we look back, those horrible school days were heaven, weren't they, Rall? What a difference the years and experience make... Nice write!

  9. I went to an all girls school. At least I did not have to tolerate horrible little boys.:)

  10. A sweet glimpse into a school far away, that is really so close... though I didn't go to an all girls' school and there were no uniforms, we still had the giggling gaggles!

  11. In retrospect it was a haven ... wish I had realized it then. Your poem is beautifully composed.
