you can
rumpti tumpti tumpti tum
huff and puff
blow the house down
blow the house up
blow yourself up
because
i saw a red canna lily today
that made my heart soar

i saw some christmas lights
outside
a small drab block of flats
lovingly arranged on a sad lone bush
by a sweet tenant
i saw a dear english woman
milk porcelain'd complexion
sweltering and wilting
in over 40 degree heat
bothering to painstakingly give directions
to a vague passerby ( moi.)
comatosed by the burning sun
God bless her
yes
i'm the gal who broke the bank at monte carlo
an inescapable truth
the best things in life are free
providing
one is not blind to them

Yes indeed..i love the sound of the first verse..the joie de vivre throughout...if we believe in ourselves and see good things...the world can be full of red lilies and Christmas lights :)
ReplyDeleteDelightfully whimsical. I really enjoyed reading it - several times!

Very few people value such gifts as that those days. I would say we have gone to the dogs if it were not an inappropriate saying for most of the dogs I've known.
ReplyDeleteFun .. I really enjoyed the child type verse at the beginning ... gave me a giggle! Bastet
ReplyDeleteCarefree and light. Just what I needed!
ReplyDeleteLove this! That first stanza is perfect all by itself, too.
ReplyDeleteLife...we miss it because we don't look. Beautiul
