POETS AND STORYTELLERS UNITED ----FRIDAY WRITINGS # 185

Don't be afraid to start over. This time you're not starting from scratch, you're starting from experience."...Prompt

with her
doesn't matter
experienced or not
still falls in love head over heels
each time

she flys
through golden clouds
glissando con moto
bursting with joy elation and
passion

until
the bubble bursts
reality hits hard
before the inevitable
big crash

just once
she should follow her head
instead of her heart
spare herself
the ultimate shattering
devastation and humiliation

just once
resist head over heels in love
somersaulting up in the clouds
just once
before
she shuffles off this mortal coil

  3. That damn heart wins the battle with the head every time... But you never know, the heart may be right one of these days...

  4. "just once," is such good advice, yet seldom taken.

  5. Gullable might be the word for her.
    Optimistic probably fits as well
    Domestic resignation she's not

  6. I love the nod to musical composition as you composed your way through this wonderful poem. I have fallen, fallen hard only to face "the end." It hurts, hopefully never cripples.

  7. You only have so much time left. Best enjoy it, no?

  8. Sure, there's the fall... but oh, the glory of the flight!

  9. I found that letting the head slow the heart down is underrated as a way to sustain the thrills. The "feelings" come from hormones. The hormones come, and go, and come back. Releasing the expectation that "feelings" will last seemed to be what made it possible for "feelings" to keep coming back.

  11. What feeling is better than somersaulting? I love the quote you included.
