Poetry Jam...1985
OLN...Dverse

she had a passion
for damaged goods and rejects
playing with fire
and then she wondered
why everything would blow up
in her lovely face
...............................................

nineteen eighty five
worse time of my entire life
Thank God it's over
Lord how we survive
things that have happened to us
it's miraculous

i always wanted
one-good things come to those who
wait and wait and wait
I know many like her, sad to say.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter was in Australia for a year and told me about the rat poison name. Figures I'd be associated with something deadly! :)
Sometimes people are slow learners.
ReplyDeletethat is def a danger when you dance that close to the flame...it will burn you eventually...
ReplyDeleteI specially like the first stanza ~
ReplyDeleteWhen you play with fire, you get heat and burns too ~
Wonderful haiku pair-- a great read!~ peace, Jason
ReplyDeleteSeems ironical to me.
ReplyDeleteWonderful read.
This is always so dangerous ... proper prevention should be adopted.
ReplyDeleteSuccinctly written, cleverly and beautifully done!
ReplyDeleteFirst verse says it all and says it well.
ReplyDeleteI have good memories of 1985, thankfully.
Yes, some years one is definitely glad to leave behind!!
ReplyDeleteThe thrill of playing with fire is stronger than the desire for safety. Sometimes. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteIn the first, I could see myself of 1985. Luckily that passion cooled. Creative and well written.
ReplyDeleteI totally relate to the urge to heal damaged goods and rejects. Been there. I LOVE the waiting and waiting and waiting for The Car. Did you finally get it? I hope so, it will give me hope! I am driving a rustbucket - 1992 450 thousand clicks, but thankfully when I put the key in, it still goes. I am STILL waiting for a car that is in the same decade I am - 67 years old, do you think it can happen? Cackle.
ReplyDeleteI bought it in 2008...always fancied myself driving around in a black cabriolet and now I do 23 years later:)Sherry , Helen Mirren is your age and she is dishy and vibrant (sans cosmetic surgery too!)
Deleteand see it comes...
ReplyDeleteLoved this - the 80's were a workout for sure.
ReplyDeleteChecked the Blue Book value on my 2001 VW Cabrio convertible ... purchased for $23,000 ... depressing, I will hold on to it as long as I can. I enjoyed your look back at 1985!
ReplyDeleteI think all of us have those tales of survival, over which we are shaking our heads and muttering, "It's a miracle I'm still here!"
ReplyDeleteSleeping the Night
Living takes patience. Glad you got to drive your dream.
ReplyDeletewow! Excellent! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteLove the Haiku's, they are all fantastic but definitely if one plays with fire than one is bound to get burned. I remember back in 85 that my daughters had those big hair looks going on and used to spend hours in the bathroom working on it. Was a fairly good year. And so glad you finally got your car, good things do come to those who wait. They just never say how long one has to wait though.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing these Haiku's with us for this weeks Theme Thursday. I hope you have a great week and stay warm.
God bless.
