Three Word Wednesday

driving at sunset
around Centennial Park
listening to Chopin
on Classic Drive

stark trees silhouetted
against the pink winter sky
pouring apricot tones
on to the mirror'd lake

i delay returning home
wanting to drain the last drop
from every skerrick of beauty
this moment holds

i am indignant that
i will not spoil this picture perfect
by thinking of words like stench
and flabby conjuring up images
of drunks and tom cats who haunt
the inner city slums

    1. You could join meals on wheels and feed the needy. Sometimes I just want to soar above the mirk and mire.

  5. So much of contrast between the first three verses and the last!! The beauty of Centennial Park and the drunks, tomcats and slums in the last!! Beautifully expressed!!

    1. Thank you Nanka. It is a beautiful park and I am lucky enough to live in walking distance of it.In the 70s the state Government wanted to ruin it by building a giant sporting stadium there but everyone took to the streets and it did not go ahead fortunately!
