A Different Kettle Of Fish

poetry jam :poets united

It's A Long And Winding Road Except If You Are Swimming

Frost's two roads
both looked good
from a distance
the road less travelled
held particular appeal

on closer examination
the travellers on both
were a heartless hypocritical lot
in spite of their display
of marching for the social good
love and peace signs
prayer mats  crosses
incense and tree hugging

there may have been a reason
He walked on water
perhaps giving a clue
it is safer out there
than on land

so she took to the sea
armed with a set of fish knives
(nice looking ones..mother of pearl
inlay )
and a kettle

at least the sharks (swimming variety)
only eat you
when they are hungry

  1. Whatever creed one professes it is unlikely it will have impact on others. But there are some who keep bothering others. Just leave them alone. Good message Rallentanda!

  3. Interesting. It needs a couple of reads before you can pick out the bones.

  4. Wonderful!. Great poem. Perhaps there are no social goods remaining. If hypocrites took to the waters, society might have a chance. But as is, dare those who are genuine leave society completely?

  7. My comment disappeared! I liked, as always. Questioned who should get out of the way of whom.

  8. She really took a very different path. Perhaps we all must, to eliminate the evils so prevalent in this world.

Thank you for your last comment on my blog. You said my poem inspired you to write something. Glad I was able to do that. Thanks for reading my poems.

  9. Hmmm, a case os it being safer in the water, sharks notwithstanding. Interestign take on the prompt, Rall. I enjoyed this one!

  12. Are you considering the path of a lone Ninja armed with such a fine set of knives? Frost's two roads speak to indecision and constant regret over choices made. The "what if" syndrome.

And you know why he walked on water. Indecision and lack of faith means we sink when it gets stormy.

  13. Good to remember there are all kinds of pathways to choose.

  14. We may take different paths, but the expectation of character and the development of one's own rely on essentially the same principals.

  18. I love this 'took on the water'...just very close from my view ...only swimming - something to work on ,and also, - to change the instrument: guitar instead of piano ~ love it :)xx
