Greasy Palms

who murdered the old tree
at 585 New South Head Rd Rose Bay?

cannot imagine (snigger )
with the tree blocking out
some of the harbour view
across the road
providing shade and aesthetics

it cost millions to breathe
the air in this beautiful
location studded with extraordinarily ugly
tasteless expensive architecture

does the council hope to shame
the persons concerned into owning up?
( LOL )

but not concerned enough to erect a structure
(as they do in Byron Bay)
to replace the poisoned tree
being only removed
when the newly planted replacement tree
reaches the height and expanse of the original tree

 very effective solution
even the mega rich with their preference
for only one tree  - the greased palm
would prefer  an existing tree
to a structure of  shade cloth

  5. Love the anger that sets off this satirical tale! Both rage and irony come across as nature is destroyed to preserve the sellable view of nature. Gosh! My ancient maple that had to come down was poisoned by the telephone company who came through to inject the roots of trees near the wires in order to "minimize" the trees' growth. Trying to approach this legally exhausted me, so I ended up forking up the $2000. it cost to cut down the dead and dangerous tree--the center of this neighborhood's beauty. It took the tree 8 years to die.

  6. I like the euphemism "minimise" the tree's growth. Well it sure did that.! You should have put a banner up shaming the telephone co. as poisoners and had prayer vigils around the tree with candles ...maybe press coverage as well.,,although the laws may be different over there and you could have found yourself wearing one of those orange uniforms as a consequence:) $ 2000 ! ..you could have had a luxury holiday in the South Pacific for that price.

  7. Amazing the things that go on in this world. We poison our environment and think we're not poisoning ourselves. Thank you for this post. It made me sad, as well as Susan's comments about her tree.
Hopefully, people will wake up in time to realize the crazyness of killing trees.
