For The Weekend

dverse

satin piano chords
silky 7ths and 9ths
an intro to
amy

amy winehouse
a cool rattle
of ice cubes
with a gravel twist

a young diva delivering
a song shining
backlit by mr smooth
at the keyboard

a  jazz angel warbling
a whirlpool of fizz
rolling round
in a champagne flute

fragile  fucked amy
brilliant big haired amy
touching your soul
with a  dark feather torn
from her young black wings

amy
drowning
in noxious  substances
the unravelling rope
slipping from her grasp
sinking
into the silent deep
too soon

talented tattoo'd amy
you needed
'someone to watch over you'

we all do  lovely

  2. This is one of your best I've read... I really like your tribute to Amy... died too young for sure... Never had the time to grow to love so much of her music --- except that voice... aweseome.

  3. Oh beautiful voice of voices - such depth, such texture, such control. No one ever brought more joy out of sadness. I hear her now: "We only said goodbye with words / I died a hundred times /black, black, black, black, black, black, black,
I go back to black" - in a way her own elegy. This is a great tribute to a lost talent. Why does the dark side have such pull on so many great ones?!

  4. I think Mrs. Winehouse would be flattered. Love the "jazz angle warbling". Thanks for sharing.

  6. How many great artists have had such fame within their grasp only to choose oblivion and ignominy instead. You did her proud.

  7. This is a beautiful tribute Rallentanda! Amy Winehouse was certainly a very fragile person. And she died far too early.

  8. A far too frequently travelled downward spiral. Do they never learn?

  9. Too bad about Amy ~ Why do these talented ones always succumbed to the dark side first ~

  10. Rall, I am surprised not to see my comment here, as I know I commented on it (unless something happened in the posting process). I agree with Bjorn's assessment that it is one of your best. The ending is poignant. Yes, Amy did indeed need someone to watch over her; and so true that undoubtedly we ALL do. A powerful piece all around.

  11. Very moving reading whilst listening to her sing..she certainly needed someone to watch over her..someone good..not the people who fed her the noxious substances and cashed in on her talent..beautifully done..

  14. ooh ouch, the bitter the sweet - the beauty! - the talent the tragedy - the end and the futile wish it was not so...

  15. The beauty and the beastly end. But a wonderful tribute,
