September Heights

he went for a swim
all the water turned holy
bottled and sold it

traditions are fine
though some are ridiculous
morris dancing (cringe)

traditions die hard
song lines and dream time stories
poetry of life

the devils kitchen
tasmanian tourist spot
why is it called that?

goodbye was so hard
time cures all, well so they say
i am still waiting

sunday scribblings

they don't look like much
but they remind me of me
and this makes me sad

sunday scribblings

a beautiful load
but a load nevertheless
spring's just a season

she smiles with delight
a garland wreath in her hair
a special spring day

picasso's white dove
the famous symbol of peace
risible really

peace does not exist
the world is always at war
in some place somewhere

from the beginning
violence has existed
a human blemish

cain killing abel
started the ball rolling,since
then it has not stopped

  5. Yes, and we so rarely look at the dove and speak about what is behind it.

  6. A very sad truth. Chemical imbalance, or something (whoops was not trying to be funny, it's horrific) Maybe some day we'll learn.

  7. If the U.S. president has his way, the ball will roll even faster...

  8. Radiantly happy!! Her crowning glory!! A special cause for her to be delightfully proud!!

  9. I am bit confused. When the dove came back to the ark with that sprig in its beak, that signalled they could land somewhere to start the wars again...and they did. The dove certainly had a good PR man.

  10. You can start wars on an ark as well as on land...you just have more space on land...hope this clarifies matters...am always available for instant biblical clarifications egg person!

  11. A good write! Peace is an ambition and whatever the state of human nature we can achieve some as individuals. That's the start - as with Cain and Able.

And don't blame the dove, a relative of mine, for man's inhumanity to man. As I recall, a dove also descended on a figure of some historical importance 2000 years ago.

By the way, Crackerjack Farm is all aglow with the election of Australia's new Prime Minister. Think I might just emigrate if they'll permit an extinct avian entry to your kingdom!

    1. No worries mate! Just don't try to get here by rowing a boat. You will be sent to a South Pacific Island and probably will end up being eaten by cannibals:) I would offer to marry you to get you here but as you are already married this is not an option...nice gesture on my part anyway dontcha think...what was that? did you just mutter something rude?:)

  12. I omitted to comment on the SS Blossom prompt. Perhaps you are like a cactus; beautiful when flowering but prickly all the time! That suits me fine.

  13. I'm wondering if there's anyone who does not smile at garlands. Yes, I imagine there's someone!

  17. Bye-bye decisions are not easy to make, but once made, it's probably best to leave them alone...

  19. Tsk .... Remember this:

    frail
    edible
    beautiful
    perfumed
    a tea to relax with
a wine to be thrilled by
    (just like you)

Drop the cactus image - leave the past where it belongs and embrace the present. Why long for pain? Honestly, you poetic types!

    1. You know, sometimes an extinct avian can make a heart go pitter patter and perk up the prickles of a sad little cactus. We poetic types have fluctuating moods.Small expressions of sadness can disappear in seconds when a Doddles comes waddling on to a blog :).

    2. Yep that Dodo can be a real charmer..dangerously smooth:)

    3. Lol.

      Never "smooth"; always "dangerous".

My nickname at work for a long while was /'Prickles'. When I discovered this outrage, I placed a picture of a cute hibernating hedgehog, all curled up peacefully in leaves, on my office door to change this unjust image. It worked too!

    4. Oooo you know it is possible that your nickname had nothing to do with a hedgehog:) I hope your fired them all!
Dangerous...yep...just as well you live in Scotland..I think you might represent an occasion of sin:)

  20. I don't know. I look it up on the net and could not find an explanation. I remembered it as a child...very bleak and wild place...it obviously made an impression on me as I was only 6 at the time and have never thought of it again until this prompt.

  21. Looks very steep and dangerous!! One might just cook one's own goose there!! ;)

  22. Wiki answers says: "prior to inundation an overhanging bluff that featured a table-like slab of sandstone was referred to as the devils kitchen"

In English: before being flooded and washed away there was once an overhanging vertical cliff joining the two sides.
