one day
i will wake up
and you will be cut down
because the council has decreed
you are a problem for the neighbourhood
no one will even notice it
too busy networking
business comes first
that's life
why don't
you realise
that shrouds have no pockets
and that not even the pharaohs
could work out a way to take it with them
when you are dead no one will care
if you are rich or poor
take joy in trees
right now
Exactly..here in Sweden there are people murdering trees with poison to improve the view... (and property value)...
ReplyDeleteSame here in Sydney... especially near the harbour...views = big bucks. So terribly depressing. ..In Byron Bay northern NSW an alternate community..if trees are poisoned the council will replant a tree and put a screen in front of it and the screen is only removed when the new tree reaches the original tree's height...This will never happen here...too many heavyweights with fat bank accounts who run the show.
Deletetrue that...but we seem too enamored with getting ahead in life and ourselves to care about trees or other people...sadly far too many are cut down daily....
ReplyDeleteI am right there with you on that! I love "shrouds have no pockets" and how even the pharoahs couldnt take it with them. Awesome!
ReplyDeletehow sad that the trees are being destroyed for big bucks ~ here we can't just cut down the trees & saplings are lovingly cared for during harsh winter ~
ReplyDelete..oh, yes... i like what you wrote in the end.... poor us for not realizing that much the real essence of everything that breathes around us... loved this! smiles...
ReplyDeletewhere is the concern and vision for the trees in so much of the world..here we have put a lot of energy into preserves and reforestation, setting large pieces of land aside for natural growth to take over once again....for the love of trees...so important a statement you make!
ReplyDeleteYes yes couldn't agree more... go hug a tree! :)
ReplyDeleteA round of applause for your brilliance!
ReplyDeleteCiao
Pea
redwoods in fog
ReplyDeletequench their thirst
sound of chainsaws
Take joy in trees... I couldn't agree more.. before they take their leave.
Your words definitely resonant...felt for sure.
ReplyDeleteAmen!
